Hello,

I am currently setting up Livezilla for our website which I just discovered and I enjoy very much your product. I will definitely purchase several licenses in the next weeks.

However, before doing so I would like to set it up completely on our server and I don't know how to set the pass-thru feature. I would like Livezilla to grab the username and phone number of the logged user from the session variables but I don't know how to do it. I have visited the specific help page but I would need to have more detailed instructions since I have no knowledge in code.

Many thanks in advance for your help.

Best regards,

torobravo

Hi Torobravo,

Thanks for your kind feedback.

I am afraid that it might be hard configure this certain feature without some coding skills and technical understanding how dynamic websites are working. The basic idea is that each website visitor gets his own individual chat button / tracking code that contains the personal information and passes these info to LiveZilla. From technical aspect, you will need to generate this individual from a template (generated in the Link Generator) and placeholders you replace with the actual info during runtime.

To be honest, I have no idea how to explain this better. :???:

Hello Patrick,

many thanks indeed for your kind (and fast!) reply.

I understand the concept but the technical realization remains a little bit obscure.

For example I know how to get the session variables from an asp page with a script like <% response.Write Session("CustomerID")%>

It looks like what I want needs me to activate the dynamic pass-thru option, and create some custom fields in the chat server administration. Right?

What is unclear to me is how to tell the Link Generator to grab the user session variable in each field ?

Many thanks in advance for your help :)

Unfortunately, LiveZilla is not able "to grab" this. The Link Generator will add placeholders and you need to replace these placeholder with your actual data before sending the code to your website visitor.

I am not a ASP guy but the pseudo code should look like this:

output ( mywebsitetemplate. replace ( "<!--replace_me_with_b64url_name-->", base64UrlEncode(Session("CustomerName")));

If you like to pass a customer number you will need to configure a custom field first. It's the same as with the standard fields then.

output ( mywebsitetemplate . replace ( "<!--replace_me_with_b64url_custom_0-->", base64UrlEncode(Session("CustomerID")))

Hi Patrick,

than you for your explanation which helped me to understand some things but... I am probably still too ignorant to use it.

I don't know where the pseudo code should be pasted in.

For the moment the following code works perfectly:

<!-- LiveZilla Chat Button Link Code (ALWAYS PLACE IN BODY ELEMENT) --><a name="livezilla_chat_button" href="javascript:void(window.open('https://mydomain.com/chat/chat.php?acid=a17da','','width=590,height=760,left=0,top=0,resizable=yes,menubar=no,location=no,status=yes,scrollbars=yes'))" class="lz_cbl"><img src="https://mydomain.com/chat/image.php?acid=f15da&amp;id=3&amp;type=inlay" width="160" height="40" style="border:0px;" alt="LiveZilla Live Chat Software"></a><!-- http://www.LiveZilla.net Chat Button Link Code -->

If I add the dynamic pass-thru functionality, I will get the following code:

<!-- LiveZilla Chat Button Link Code (ALWAYS PLACE IN BODY ELEMENT) --><a name="livezilla_chat_button" href="javascript:void(window.open('https://mydomain.com/chat/chat.php?acid=f26a2&amp;en=<!--replace_me_with_b64url_name-->&amp;ee=<!--replace_me_with_b64url_email-->&amp;ep=<!--replace_me_with_b64url_phone-->&amp;mp=MQ__','','width=590,height=760,left=0,top=0,resizable=yes,menubar=no,location=no,status=yes,scrollbars=yes'))" class="lz_cbl"><img src="https://mydomain.com/chat/image.php?acid=8dd30&amp;id=3&amp;type=inlay" width="160" height="40" style="border:0px;" alt="LiveZilla Live Chat Software" /></a><!-- http://www.LiveZilla.net Chat Button Link Code -->

My session variables are named "lastname", "email" and "phone" but I don't see really how to have those values replacing the bold-printed text above.

I would be sincerely grateful if you could give me a further hint about how to put all this together and make it work properly with Livezilla.

This is the last step I need to complete before proceeding to order.

Cheers,

Torobravo

Hello, support.

After my trial period finished I purchased a full premium options pack and 2 operators licenses.

How can I get some help regarding the question above?

Thank you,

I am sorry but I am not able to explain it better. As stated before, this features requires programming skills and a good understanding of dynamic websites.

Thanks for your understanding.

Hello Patrick,

How much would you charge to do it for me, then ?

Thank you for your help,
